CARS art release –Downtown Disney® District

CARS inspired Pop Art RELEASE EVENT – WonderGround Gallery

On September 8 – 9, 2012 – I’ll be on hand from 1pm to 4pm (each day) at the WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort.   Inspired by the Disney∙Pixar’s Cars  universe combined with Japanese automobile racing anime/manga franchises from the 60′s and 70′s, Ukiyo-E (woodblock prints), Retro racing posters, Italian automotive model kits – among many other things – the Rising Sun Speedway is born – featuring Lightning McQueen, Shu Todoroki and friends!

This piece aims to take you on a visual adventure down Japan’s most famous (imagined) freeway — combining a range of techniques and mediums including three-dimensional lighting made real with acrylic gloss, crushed glass, 3D effects, photographic steel applications, and more. The result is a cross over from the world of 3D animation to retro 2D and back again.
